Alabang cooking classes this August

Get the Makati schedule here!

Please note that we will be on vacation from August 17 to September 9. We’ll resume classes mid-September!

AUGUST, all on Wednesdays

5 – Vegan Cookies

12 – Perfection achieved by way of pizza

Learn how to bake dairy-free and egg-free versions of popular cookies in VEGAN COOKIES class! Get familiar with using healthier alternatives to white flour and white sugar as well as plant-based alternatives to butter and eggs.

Are vegan cookies any good? I’ve been vegan for more than 6 years and feeding dairy-eaters my cookies – yes, yes my vegan cookies bring all the boys to the yard. You won’t know the difference and they’re cholesterol-free, too.

Oatmeal raisin cookies

Peanut butter crisscross cookies

Chocolate chip cookies

Double chocolate chip cookies

Please note: this class is not gluten free.

RATE: P1850 if prepaid by August 3 Monday, P2150 after August 3  (prepaying details here).

Who doesn’t love pizza? A healthy diet isn’t drinking green juice and eating salad all day. Guilt-free pizza is definitely achievable in your own kitchen – why pay someone to make you a tolerable vegetable pizza when you can make one (or 9) yourself that you will actually want to devour? Come to PERFECTION ACHIEVED BY WAY OF PIZZA class and I promise, you won’t find better pizzas around. Learn how to knead whole wheat pizza doughs from scratch as well as:

3 sauces – marinara, smoky barbecue, and dairy-free garlic cream

2 dairy-free cheeses – soy and cashew

At the end of class we will make 9 awesome pizza flavours:

margherita, bianca, Italian veggie sausage, truffle potato, truffle mushroom,

garden barbecue, roman eggplant, pizza con zucca, sky’s the limit

*we can accommodate gluten-free folks! Please indicate gluten intolerance upon registration.

This is a pretty popular class and in the end of class, you will leave completely stuffed!!!

RATE: P2150 if prepaid by August 10 Monday, P2450 after August 10  (prepaying details here)

VENUE: a private residence in Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa. Please inquire to get the exact address.

Hello, world. It’s been awhile since I’ve updated this website – sorry about that. I’ve gotten inquiries a-plenty about classes this summer. Here is my quick reply:

  2. Kids’ classes will happen both in Makati and Alabang!
  3. Makati kids’ classes will start on April 25. There are 4 classes scheduled, all happening on weekends – stay tuned, schedules go up tonight.
  4. Alabang kids’ classes will start on May 12. There are 6 classes scheduled, all happening on Tuesdays and Thursdays in May. Stay tuned, schedules go up by tonight / tomorrow!

That’s it. Have a fantastic week ahead!

Stuff from the past + stuff on the horizon

Hello veggie freaks! Just wanted to update you on a bunch of stuff.

November cooking classes – yes! Still in Alabang on Wednesdays. Get the schedule here. We’ve got cookies, salads, chocolate pastries, and Mediterranean cuisine in store. Makati classes are still in the works – I’m just fine-tuning some details.

Muni Market on November 8 – I’ll be at Muni Market in Capitol Commons, Pasig from 9am to 7pm peddling awesome vegan goods such as dairy-free ice cream, crack cacao nib cookies, gluten-free and vegan salted belgian chocolate cupcakes, and gluten-free bread. I wrote a bit about the market in a post here. If you’re curious about what else to expect, read up here.

Watch this video starring some of the Muni Market Day merchants talking about conscious consumption and mindful living (I’m in the 45th second).

Yummy magazine column – I’m still alive and kicking out a column on healthy eats in Yummy magazine! Out every month. I was all over broccoli mac and cheese in October (sauce made from kalabasa / squash, yumm). November is a frozen chocolate pie, so pick up an issue, stat!

The Workplace interview – I guested at The Workplace, a local TV show that airs every Monday at noon at channel 8 on Destiny Cable, channel 213 on Sky Cable, and channel 1 on Southeast Asia. If you missed it, catch it on youtube below.

That’s all, folks! See you in the kitchen!

Locally made gluten-free bread

Hello gluten-free friends, if you miss your daily bread but fear the G-word, this may be the answer to your prayers. Freshly made gluten-free bread (P130 per 1 pound loaf) by Kitchen Revolution is now available for pick ups in Alabang or delivery by Edgy Veggy.

Edgy Veggy delivers in Makati, Ortigas, and Fort Bonifacio for P500 minimum order and purveys other yummy vegetarian food that can be added to your bill. They usually pick up bread on Tuesdays so send in your orders by the weekend (text Denise +63 917 820 2081). You can opt to pick up the bread from the Edgy Veggy Cafe in Kapitolyo. More on Edgy Veggy here and here.

If you want a Makati pick-up point, leave a comment below! I may be able to work something out with Ritual (at The Collective). Check out their website here.

This crusty bread is made with brown rice flour, sorghum flour, cassava starch, flax seeds, and lots of vegan love (sesame seeds sprinkled on top, too).
