January & February classes in Makati + we are closing shop

It’s both exciting and terrifying and I will sorely miss teaching. So while I’m still here, do attend my classes because they are now on limited offer!

JANUARY

SOUPS TO MAKE YOU SING

WHEN: January 20, Saturday, 9:30am to 1pm

Soups make a great start to any meal and if they are hearty enough, they can be a complete meal altogether. Learn how to make flavorful, filling, and nourishing soups from scratch using simple ingredients and seasoned to perfection using natural herbs and spices.

*****

PASTA PARTICIPLE 2.0

WHEN: January 21, Sunday, 2-6pm

Pasta is a staple in Italian cuisine because it cooks quickly and fills up your appetite quite nicely. But most pasta noodles are made with refined flour (which can spike blood sugar levels) and their sauces can be quite rich and unhealthy. In PASTA PARTICIPLE 2.0 class, discover how to make healthified dairy-free versions of pasta favourites without sacrificing flavour, using vegetables, legumes, nuts, and herbs.

ON THE MENU:

Spaghetti bolognese

Spaghetti with veggie meatballs

Fettuccini carbonara

Mushroom ravioli with 2 sauces

RATE: P2050 if prepaid by January 18 Thursday, P2250 after January 18 Thursday.

*****

ASIAN SALADS

It has a chewy texture quite reminiscent of meat without the cruelty and the cholesterol. *****

FEBRUARY

PINOY VEGAN EATS

WHEN: February 3, Saturday, 9:30am-12:30pm

One of the challenges of adopting a plant-based diet in this country is recreating more healthful versions of traditional familiar foods. Filipino cuisine is characterized by bold flavors — sour, sweet, bitter, salty, spicy. But going veg doesn’t have to mean turning your back on culture! In this class, we explored plant-based renditions of favorite popular Pinoy dishes.

ON THE MENU:

Chickpea kaldareta

Tofu mushroom adobo

Tofu steak tagalog

Longganisa with tortang talong

RATE: early bird rate of P1950 if paid by February 1 Thursday, P2250 after February 1 Thursday.

*****

PERFECTION ACHIEVED BY WAY OF PIZZA

WHEN: February 4 Sunday, 2-6pm

Who doesn’t love pizza? A healthy diet isn’t drinking green juice and eating salad all day. Guilt-free pizza is definitely achievable in your own kitchen – why pay someone to make you a tolerable vegetable pizza when you can make one (or 9!) yourself that you will actually want to devour? Come to this class and I promise, you won’t find better pizzas around.

Learn how to knead whole wheat pizza dough from scratch as well as:

3 sauces – marinara, smoky barbecue, and dairy-free garlic cream
2 dairy-free cheeses – soy and cashew

At the end of class we will make AT LEAST 9 awesome pizza flavours:

margherita, Italian veggie sausage, garden of Eden, alfalfa and arugula
bianca, truffle potato, truffle mushroom, spinach and squash
garden barbecue

This is a pretty popular class and in the end of class, you will leave completely stuffed!!!

RATE: P2450 if prepaid by February 1 Thursday, P2750 after February 1 Thursday.

NOTE ON ALLERGIES: This class can be made nut-free upon request. Some of the recipes contain soy and gluten.

RATE: P2050 if prepaid by February 22 Thursday, P2350 after February 22 Thursday.

NOTE ON ALLERGIES:  Some of the recipes contain soy, gluten, and nuts. Gluten-free alternatives can be made available upon request.

On a break until end of August

Hello, world. We’ve been quiet these past weeks and sorry for the late update – we’re taking a break from cooking classes from now until end of August.

Our head chef (Marie!) is tying the knot! She’s been busy wedding prepping and DIY-ing as much as she can. Unfortunately that means less time available for classes.

We’ll see you guys in the kitchen and update the website with new schedules soonest. Thanks for understanding.

Something different this Christmas: KR gift certificates now for sale

Hello, folks! Christmas is around the corner and we’re probably all scrambling to get gifts for our loved ones. It’s easy to just pop by the mall and buy generic, factory-made, made-in-a-distant-country presents – but what would be really cool and more meaningful is if you support local businesses and buy presents from people that handcraft their own products and services.

With that in mind, I wanted to share with you that Kitchen Revolution now has gift certificates to cooking classes for sale! Cooking is a skill I think everyone needs to learn if you want to be self-sufficient and take care of your health. It’s easy to grab a bite at a fast food place or  restaurant but most food establishments serve food that don’t nourish us. Fat, salt, and sugar make food taste amazing and that’s what restaurants will use to lure people in (unfortunately that is why heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer exist). Of course, if you don’t know how to cook, you’ll rely on someone else to cook for you. Cooking can be therapeutic, creative, and a great way to show someone you care for them. So, either gift yourself with a GC to one of our classes or gift someone with it so they can cook for you!

IMG_8109

Our classes are unique because we use whole foods and holistic ingredients to make dishes taste amazing. We focus on fruit and vegetables, beans and legumes, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices, mushrooms, and anything plant-based to make flavourful yet healthful food. We can adapt to food intolerances / allergies in class (kindly inform us in advance). You’ll definitely learn unique and surprising tips in the kitchen – things you won’t learn in conventional cooking classes!

GC’s are available in denominations of P500, P1000, or any value you choose (plus courier fee of P45). Most of our classes cost P1850 (early bird rate) but others are priced differently (e.g. the juice and smoothie workshop costs less while the pizza / nutty dessert classes cost more). We work with any budget and GC’s are available year round!

PROMO!!!

The first 15 people who will purchase a GC worth P1850 (good for 1 regular class) can get it at P500 off! Spend only P1350 on a class worth P1850! This promo ends on December 22, Tuesday.

This promo is limited to 1 GC per person. If a class costs more than P1850, the student must pay for the difference (e.g. Pizza class is usually P2250. P2250 – 1850 = P400).

GC Conditions:

  1. The GC’s are transferable but non-refundable.
  2. GC’s cannot be exchanged for cash. No change will be given if a GC worth P1850 is used to pay for a class that’s worth less.
  3. The GC is good until 1 year from issue.
  4. RSVP is a must. We post class schedules on the website every month and we always require RSVP’ing, just so we know how much ingredients we need for all the students.
  5. Our cancelation policy will still be implemented. Check it out here.

Remember:

We’re done teaching classes for the year but we’ll have more in 2016. See you in the kitchen!
