I really should get back to recipe testing (last na ‘to, promise!) but I just wanted to let you all know that the world must be coming to an end because — well, the reasons are 4-fold:
- Vegan cooking appeared on mainstream television last year (link here)
- Vegan cooking appears regularly in one of the top food magazines in the country starting this year (link here)
- Cosmo magazine celebrates a vegan chef as one of the fun, fearless, females of 2012 (link here)
- last but not the least…
There will be a vegan cooking demo at Yummy Eats, one of the biggest food(ie) fairs in the country.
Seriously, I never thought I’d see the day… But it’s happening.
On Saturday the 26th, stop by Yummy Eats at the Rockwell tent and watch me demonstrate a few of my favorite plant-strong recipes. I’m on at around 5:00pm so make sure you pass by then!
Philippines, I’m going to turn you plant-strong, just you wait. But in the meantime, it’s back to the kitchen.

Check out the line-up of chefs and cooking demos here. I’m the only vegetarian chef on the program, by the way (and by the looks of it, probably the only female?). While I’d love meat eaters to try the food I’ll be cooking, herbivores I’m counting on you to come veg-represent. There will be limited samples so sit close to the stage.
So remember a few months ago I mentioned that I was going to guest at Green Living and cook an awesome dish? And yes, I declared the episode was supposed to come out mid-August but it actually ended up coming out yesterday as the second season’s first episode.
If you didn’t catch yesterday’s airing and today’s replay, check it out on Saturday at 8:30pm and Sunday at 10:30am and 9:00pm. Channel ANC!
And if you thought the dish I cooked in that episode looked pretty good (because colorful = sexy and brown = drab), here is the recipe. Have a go at it, lay on as much vegetables as you can muster, and let me know what you think!
I’m so excited to share with you guys that I’ll be guesting at ANC’s Green Living two Tuesdays from now!
This show is all about living a sustainable urban lifestyle with class. Yup, it’s possible, you don’t have to live in a bahay kubo to care about the earth and you don’t have to wear a bahag either – although both are completely acceptable ways of living, don’t get me wrong. The show explores the different ways we can tread more gently on this planet. And as we all know, vegetarianism = environmentalism in its simplest of forms.
The Green Living crew (together with host Paolo Abrera) came over to my kitchen yesterday and we shot a mini-cooking show. It will probably air on the 16th of August. I’ll be off for vacation at that time so you guys will have to check it out and let me know what you think!
I picked a dish that I thought would showcase vegetables in all their glory. I’m keeping mum on the dish but all I can say is that Paolo and the crew loved it – it was pretty for the camera AND it tasted pretty swell, too.
Green Living airs on ANC on Tuesdays at 9:30pm. Check out the show blog here for more details on the show schedule and behind-the-scenes stuff.
